The Regulations for the Recommendation of Candidates for Councilors of the Robotics Society of Japan


Enacted on April 1, 2000 by the Board of Directors

 

(Purpose)
Article 1   These Regulations shall stipulate the detailed regulations necessary for the implementation of Article 5 of the Regulations for the Election and Appointment of Councilors of the Robotics Society of Japan.

(Recommendation of Candidates for Councilors)
Article 2   The chairman of the election committee shall request that the regular members make recommendations for candidates for Councilors for the next term through written documents such as the journal and bulletins

Article 3   The chairman of the election committee shall disclose to each Director the persons recommended by the regular members in accordance with Article 2 make a further request for the recommendation of candidates for Councilors.
2. Each Director shall make recommendations for candidates from a wide-ranging standpoint, taking into account the candidates disclosed in accordance with the preceding Paragraph.
3. The result of the recommendation in accordance with the preceding two Paragraphs shall be coordinated by the chairman of the election committee and then shall be subject to the final decision of the Board of Directors.

(Standards for Recommendation)
Article 4   When performing the election and recommendation of Councilors, attention shall be paid so that an Executive shall not be appointed for three (3) consecutive terms, unless there is an unavoidable reason for such appointment.

Article 5   The election and the recommendation of the candidates for Councilors shall be generally in accordance with the following standards:
  (1) Recommendation from organizations
     The predetermined number of the recommendations from organizations such as universities, national
  and public research institutes, corporations, etc., shall be as follows:
        Organizations having less than 30 regular members:
        Up to 2 persons
        Organizations having 30 or more regular members and having 99 or fewer of regular members:
        Up to 4 persons
        Organizations having 100 or more regular members and having 199 or fewer regular members:
        Up to 6 persons
        Organizations having 200 or more regular members: Up to 8 persons
  However, attention shall be paid so that the number of recommended Councilors from the same
  organization will not exceed 10 % of the predetermined quorum of the Councilors.
  (2) Recommendation from committees
     The predetermined number of recommendations from the permanent committee, investigative research
  committee, specialized research committee, etc., shall be as follows:
        Committee chairman: 1 person
        Person recommended by a committee chairman, if the committee has any special reason: 1 person

  (3) Other recommendations
     The predetermined number of recommendations from each area reflecting the regional characteristics
  of the habitation of the regular members shall be as follows:

     Hokkaido and Tohoku area, Kanto area (excluding Yamanashi), Chubu area (including Koshin-etsu
  (including Yamanashi), Hokuriku and Tokai (excluding Mie)), Kinki area (including Mie), Chugoku and
  Shikoku area and Kyushu and Okinawa area: Minimum 2 persons. A few additional persons from an
  area having a particularly large number of inhabitants.

     However, even if it is difficult to obtain proper candidates from an area due to any reason, attention
  shall be paid so that at least two (2) candidates can be obtained from each area when the number of
  candidates under items (1) and (2) above is also counted as the number of area candidates.

Supplementary Provisions

These Regulations shall be implemented from April 1, 2000.
2. Following the implementation of these Regulations, the Regulations for the Recommendation of the Councilors of the Robotics Society of Japan (enacted on April 15, 1988 by the Board of Directors and revised on October 18, 1991 by the Board of Directors) shall be abolished.
