The Regulations for the Selection of Distinguished Service Award of the Robotics Society of Japan

Enacted on June 13, 2008 by the Board of Directors

Article 1 (Purpose)
These Regulations shall stipulate the procedure for selection of the Distinguished Service Award based on the Regulations for the Awards Committee of this Society.

Article 2 (Method of Recommendation)
In each award year, the President shall request that the persons qualified as recommenders make recommendations by writing the name of the nominee for the Distinguished Service Award.

2. In principle, the recommendation set forth in the foregoing shall be made within the recommendation period determined by the Awards Committee.

3. Notwithstanding Paragraph 2 above, in the event there is a special necessity to promptly give award with regard to significant contribution, a recommendation may be accepted on an as-needed basis to the extent that fair and equitable selection is secured, and such recommendation may be added as the subject of selection based on the discretion of the Awards Committee.

Article 3 (Standards of Recommendation)
When making the recommendation for the Distinguished Service Award, the substantive content, effect and significance of the contribution, which are the subject of the recommendation, shall be objectively and clearly demonstrated.

Article 4 (Standards of Review)
When performing the review of the Distinguished Service Award, the specificity and objective significance of the contribution, which is the subject of the recommendation, and greatness of efforts of the nominee shall be comprehensively evaluated and a person with remarkable achievement shall be selected.

Article 5 (Selection of Nominees for the Award)
The selection subcommittee chairperson shall convene the selection subcommittee and confirm the selection method for the nominees of the award.

2. The chairperson of the selection subcommittee shall select the nominees for the award in accordance with the selection method set forth in the preceding paragraph.

Article 6 (Report of Results)
The chairperson of the selection subcommittee shall report the results of the selection together with the selection process to the President.

Supplementary Provisions

1. These Regulations shall be applied from June 15, 2008.
