The Regulations for the Selection of Best Paper Award of the Robotics Society of JapanEnacted on October 20, 1995 by the Board of Directors Revised on December 2, 1996 by the Board of Directors Revised on September 14, 1997 by the Board of Directors Revised on July 12, 2000 by the Board of Directors Revised on March 11, 2003 by the Board of Directors Revised on February 15, 2007 by the Board of Directors (Purpose) Article 1 These Regulations shall stipulate the procedure for selection of the Best Paper Award Based on the Regulations for the Awards Committee of this Society (enacted on February 15, 2007 by the Board of Directors). (Recommendation from Executives, Committee Members, etc.) Article 2 The President of this Society shall at the start of each year request that the Executives of this Society (Directors and Auditors), former Executives, Councilors (hereinafter referred to as the gExecutives, etc.h) and committee members of the Editorial Committee select no more than four (4) of the academic achievements deemed as excellent from among the full papers, academic/technical papers, commentary papers, short papers and discussions published in the journal of this Society from January of the year before last year to December of last year and the full papers, short papers and reviews published in the European language journal of this Society during the said term; that the titles of articles, authors, names of publications, publication month and specialty fields or related fields of the recommended papers (multiple selections permitted) be attached to the recommendation; and that the recommendation be signed by the presenter. 2. The President of this Society shall request that the Editorial Committee for the Journal and the European Language Journal Committee make recommendations under the same conditions as Paragraph 1. However, in this case, the number of recommendations shall be determined by each committee. (Recommendation by Members) Article 3 By announcement in the journal, the President shall request that the regular members of this Society make recommendations under the same conditions as the preceding Article. However, in this case, each regular member shall make a recommendation of one (1) research paper. (Standards for the Review of Research Papers) Article 4 In the review for the Best Paper Award, the creativity of the research paper, contribution and influence in the academic and technological field and effort shall be considered, with creativity being especially focused on. Additionally, the completeness of the presentation and the evolving nature of the research shall also be considered. (Primary Selection) Article 5 The selection subcommittee members shall evaluate each recommended research paper and based on the evaluation results, approximately ten (10) of the research papers shall be selected. (Selection of Nominees) Article 6 The primary selection papers indicated above shall be reevaluated by all the committee members of the selection subcommittee. 2. Based on the evaluation results, the selection subcommittee shall select the nominees of the Best Paper Award from among the research papers in the primary selection. (Report of Results) Article 7 The subcommittee chairman shall report the results of the selection to the President together with the summary of the selection. Supplementary Provisions 1. Along with the implementation of these Regulations, the Regulations for the Selection of the Nominees for the Research Paper Award and Technology Award of the Robotics Society of Japan (enacted on October 13, 1992 by the Board f Directors) are abolished. 2. These Regulations shall be implemented from October 20, 1995. 3. These Regulation shall be revised and implemented from December 2, 1996. 4. These Regulations shall be revised and implemented from September 14, 1997. 5. These Regulations shall be revised and implemented from July 12, 2000. 6. These Regulations shall be revised and implemented from March 11, 2003. 7. These Regulations shall be revised and implemented from February 15, 2007.
