International Robotics Forum for High School Students 2015 (IRH 2015)
Report of 2nd International Robotics Forum for High School Students (IRH 2015)
IRH 2015 finished in success. We would like to thank for cooperation by every participants and many supporters. IRH 2017 will be held at Tokyo again. We would be grateful if we could meet you at next stage.
Application of International Robotics Forum for High School Students (IRH2015)
The Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ), to provide opportunities to learn more about industrial and service robots to high school students who may not normally come into contact with them, held the Robot High School (Industrial Robots Workshop for High School Students) at the Tokyo Big Site, the site of the International Robot Exhibition, in 2009 and in 2011. Moreover, the RSJ, to provide opportunities to join international students, held the International Robotics Forum for High School Students 2013 (IRH 2013) in 2013. You can refer the detail of the IRH 2013 at the Report of IRH 2013 . This year, the RSJ is going to held the International Robotics Forum for High School Students 2015 (IRH 2015) that will collaborate with the International Robot Exhibition 2015 .
The lectures and explanations throughout the Conference will be given in Japanese but will be simultaneously interpreted into English. The Conference will offer an ideal opportunity for senior high school students from the around the world to communicate with each other through robots. Therefore, we look forward to your active participation.
The event will take place over two days. In the morning of Day One, Prof. Shin’ichi Yuta of the Shibaura Institute of Technology, who, as the leading expert on world robotic research, has been successively developing robust autonomous mobile robots, will give a lecture on the basic mobile robotics and learning through robots. This will be followed by a talk by Mr. Kazuhiko Yokoyama of Yasukawa Electric Corporation, who, as a leading engineer of robots, is currently engaged in robot development. Mr. Yokoyama will explain the mechanism and control of robots and also point out the highlights of the International Robot Exhibition.
We will prepare a challenge for all the participants. We will send you themes of robot study. You will study about them in advance, and in afternoon of Day One, you will visit the iREX 2015 and investigate real robots. In the morning of Day Two, you will present your study and investigation result. Exhibition scale of the iREX 2105 will be greater than that of the iREX 2013, so you will be able to fun and excitement of advanced robot technologies.
In the afternoon of Day Two, as the final event, awards will be given by the RSJ to groups that have given outstanding presentations.
We hope that many future robot researchers, engineers and entrepreneurs will be born today.
