　趣旨
---------
ロボットの研究開発の進展とともに、私たちの日常生活にロボットが浸透する時代が近づいてきています。しかしながら、ロボットの技術的な発展に比べ、学術や産業の両方において、文脈的・社会的・文化的側面に向けられる注意は比較的低い状況にあります。そこで私たちは、ロボットとヒトの効率的かつクリエイティブなインタラクションを目指すためには、工学に加え、芸術学、インタラクションデザイン、心理学、人工知能などの分野を領域横断的に組み合わせた分野と、学問と産業を強く結びつける場が必須であると考えています。次世代の社会的なエージェントとしてロボットが受け入れられるようになるためには、産業的な生産性や知識の増進だけではなく、ロボットとヒトが相互の信頼と喜びを持ったインタラクションすることによって生まれる体験が、クリエイティブな場を作りだす過程の解明と、その知見に基づいたデザインが重要な役割を果たすと思われます。今回のワークショップの目的は、ユーザーや環境、あるいは社会的・文化的な文脈が、ロボットの外見や動作・行動をどのように関連しているのかを議論することです。さらには、社会的、感情的、心理的なバリアーをロボットのデザインによって乗り越えるためには、どのような知見が必要で、どのような研究を展開して行くべきなのかを、様々な分野／アプローチの研究者が提唱する概念、あるいは実践しているデザインをつきあわせることで議論して行きたいと考えています。

　　論文投稿と査読プロセス

第１段階：
Ａ４で１ページの論文のアブストラクトを、ＰＤＦフォーマット（シングルコラムで10ポイントのフォント使用）で、<social_hri@unsw.edu.au>に送付。締切は2015年5月8日です。アブストラクトには、タイトル・著者の名前・所属・責任著者の連絡先・アブストラクトの本文を含めてください。この第１段階はワークショップの企画運営を円滑に行うためのもので、この段階で査読結果の連絡はありません。

第２段階：
フルペーパーを<social_hri@unsw.edu.au>に送ってください。締切は2015年6月15日です。フォーマットはRO-MAN2015の規定(http://ro-man2015.org/papers.html)に従って、RO-MAN2015のLaTeXかWordテンプレートを使用し、6ページ以内としてください。発表には採択となった論文の少なくとも１名の著者がワークショップに参加登録することが条件となります。

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following

All submitted papers within the scope of the workshop will be peer-reviewed.
Accepted papers will be considered for inclusion in a special volume of the
Springer series Lecture Notes on Artificial Intelligence (awaiting
confirmation).

Motivation and Objectives

----------------------------------

Advances in robotics science and technology mean that robots are
increasingly being deployed into society. The rapid pace of change is being
driven principally by advances in engineering and IT, often with relatively
minor attention given to contextual, social and cultural factors.
Breakthroughs that advance the efficient, fluent and rewarding human
interaction with these robots will require a cross-disciplinary approach
that combines expertise in aesthetics and interaction design, psychology,
artificial intelligence, and engineering, linked strongly to both academia
and industry. Strong public acceptance and uptake of the next generation of
social robots will be driven not only by the advances in material
productivity and knowledge sharing that can be achieved through their use,
but more importantly by the levels of engagement and enjoyment that humans
will experience when interacting with them, resulting in a creative and
innovative environment. The prime motivation of the workshop is therefore to
explore how a robot's appearance and behaviour can be shaped in the context
of users and their environments. A robot's appearance, behaviour and the
socio-cultural context that it operates in are key factors that influence
the quality of the interaction between a human and a robot.

The workshop aims to explore how innovative robot design can assist in
overcoming the social, emotional and psychological barriers that people can
experience when interacting with robots. It is intended that the workshop
will bring together researchers with diverse approaches to the conception,
design and implementation of the next generation of social robots. Emphasis
will be placed on how a robot's appearance and behaviour should be designed
to take into account the social context, including both people and
environment, in which it will be embedded.

The workshop is intended to attract researchers from both industry and
academia working in the multi-disciplinary area of social HRI, including
interactive robotic system designers, AI experts, interactive media artists,
and behavioural experts from psychology and the social sciences.

Paper Submission and Review

----------------------------------

Paper submission and review is a two-stage process. All submitted papers
within the scope of the workshop will be peer-reviewed.

Stage 1: Please email a one-page abstract of your paper in PDF form to
social_hri (at) @unsw.edu.au by 8 May June 2015. The abstract must contain
the paper title, author names and affiliations, contact details of the
corresponding author, and an extended abstract. This submission should be no
longer than one A4 page of 10-point type, single column. This initial
abstract submission is for RO-MAN 2015 workshop organization purposes only
and there will be no notification of acceptance at this stage.

Stage 2: Please email a PDF of your full paper to social_hri (at)
@unsw.edu.au by 15 June 2015. Papers must be no more than 6 pages long, and
conform to the RO-MAN 2015 manuscript guidelines
(http://ro-man2015.org/papers.html); please use the RO-MAN 2015 LaTeX or
MS-Word templates. All accepted papers require at least one author to
register for the workshop. More information is available on the RO-MAN 2015
website.
