Special Issue Proposal

Advanced Robotics Special Issue Proposal

The Editorial Committee of Advanced Robotics welcomes special issue proposals in the field of advanced robotics research. Details, please see below:

Purpose

The purpose of Special Issues is to provide a timely and concise account of recent advances in a scientific, technical, or application area by collecting a group of papers organized in a coherent theme. Special Issues publish peer reviewed papers responding to an open call.

Special Issue Proposals

Prospective organizers of a Special Issue must submit a proposal to the Editor in Chief that clearly indicates the following issues:

  • Title of the Special Issue
  • A list of guest editor candidates with brief biographies, which indicates a Managing Guest Editor
  • The motivation of the proposal which clarifies the background and purpose including the value and relevance to Advanced Robotics
  • A description of the topical area
  • A list of proposed papers from authors interested in submitting
  • A draft Call for Papers

After reviewing the proposal, the Editorial Committee will make decision to accept or not.

Guest editors

Prospective organizers must confirm whether guest editor candidates will accept it before submission of a proposal.

Guest Editors should be the leading experts in the area, preferably from geographically diverse locations, at least one each from the continents (e.g., one from US, one from Asia, and one from Europe). The Editorial Committee also recommends incorporating diversity in terms of gender and age when selecting guest editors.

Guest Editors must include at least one member from the Senior or Associate Editors of Advanced Robotics Editorial Committee.

Upon acceptance of a Special Issue proposal

Once the manuscript is submitted to the special issue, the Editorial office assigns papers to Guest Editors, who in turn invite reviewers and make sure the reviews are timely, substantial and constructive. It will be a Guest Editors’ roll to prepare a publication recommendation based on a summary of reviews and on their own comments and insight in the submitted manuscripts. The acceptance decision is made both by the Managing Guest Editor and the EiC.

If a sufficient number of papers (at least 5) submitted to the Special Issue is eventually accepted, then the Special Issue will be published. If not, the accepted papers will be treated as regular issues with indication of a Focused Section.

Guest Editors will prepare a lead Editorial article, introducing the Special Issue area and illustrating the different contributions and their relations.
